A master's thesis at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology at University of Basrah examines a comparative study of the automatic assessment of short-form questions in Arabic.
The thesis, presented by student Marwa Ali Abdul Samad, aims to address the problems associated with manual assessment. Automated assessment systems are widely used worldwide because they play a crucial role in educational technology. Furthermore, automated assessment systems offer numerous advantages, saving cost, effort, and time compared to manual assessment.
The thesis included the use of various techniques to design and program an AEG system, such as machine learning algorithms and natural language processing (NLP) to analyze essay questions. These algorithms are trained on large datasets of human-corrected questions and answers to identify high-quality answers from low-quality ones.
