University of Basrah Organizes a Lecture on Predicting Hemodialysis Complications for Kidney Failure Patients Using Machine Learning Techniques

The College of Computer Science and Information Technology at University of Basrah organized a scientific lecture entitled “Intelligent System for Predicting Complications in Hemodialysis Patients Using Machine Learning Techniques.”

The lecture aimed to highlight the importance of employing artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques in the medical field, particularly in the early prediction of complications during hemodialysis sessions. This contributes to supporting medical decision-making, reducing risk levels, and improving the quality of healthcare for kidney failure patients. It also demonstrated the role of intelligent systems in enhancing clinical performance and reducing complication rates during dialysis sessions.

The lecture, presented by researcher Alia Kamash under the supervision of Dr. Adala Mahdi, included an introductory overview of kidney failure and the importance of hemodialysis, along with an explanation of the most prominent complications that may occur during a session, such as low blood pressure, seizures, and cardiac problems.  The lecture also addressed the research problem and its significance, as well as the role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in developing accurate predictive models.

The researcher discussed the methodology adopted in the study, the mechanism for collecting and analyzing clinical data, and the construction of models using machine learning algorithms. She also reviewed relevant previous studies, culminating in a summary of the results and the study's key conclusions.
