The Department of Smart Medical Systems at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Basrah—under the supervision of the Continuing Education Unit and in collaboration with the Center for Development and Continuing Education and the Legal Division—held an awareness workshop titled "The Scourge of Drugs and Ways to Address It." The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturer Sajjad Sabah Idham.

The session addressed the dangers of drugs and their negative impact on individuals and society, covering their health, psychological, and social consequences. It also highlighted key preventive measures to curb the spread of this scourge, emphasizing the importance of community awareness and strengthened cooperation between educational institutions and relevant authorities to combat drug abuse and address its effects.

This workshop is part of the College’s ongoing efforts to foster community awareness, promote health and legal literacy among students, and contribute to building a conscious society capable of confronting the risks and challenges that threaten its well-being.
