University of Basrah Organizes Lecture on Detecting and Classifying Palm Frond Diseases Using Deep Neural Networks

The College of Computer Science and Information Technology at University of Basrah organized a scientific lecture entitled: “Detecting and Classifying Palm Frond Diseases Using Deep Neural Networks.” The lecture aimed to highlight the importance of early detection of the Dubas bug and its developmental stages on palm fronds using deep neural networks, thus contributing to the protection of agricultural production.

The lecture, presented by researcher Maryam Abdul Halim Matar, addressed the most prominent challenges associated with applying artificial intelligence techniques in this field, particularly the difficulty of detecting the Dubas bug, in addition to the problem of limited and unbalanced data. It also reviewed methods for addressing these challenges and improving model performance.
