Prof. Dr. Hisham Kadhum Hashim, Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology at University of Basrah, participated in the periodic meeting of the Deans of Information Technology and Computer Science Colleges in Iraqi Universities, which was hosted by the University of Karbala/College of Information Technology and Computer Science on Sunday, November 30, 2025.

The Deans' Committee meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Suha Mohammed Hadi, Dean of the Institute of Informatics for Postgraduate Studies. During the meeting, several topics were discussed related to developing academic programs and updating curricula and textbooks submitted to the committee by the Ministry of Higher Education, particularly concerning the establishment of new colleges and departments, and keeping pace with the rapid advancements in the fields of information technology and computer science.

The deans emphasized the importance of this periodic meeting and its impact on strengthening communication and unifying visions among the colleges under the Deans' Committee specializing in information technology, with the aim of improving all aspects of the educational and academic process.  At the conclusion of the meeting, the participating deans were honored by the President of the University of Karbala, Prof.Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali. He commended the deans from 18 colleges across various Iraqi universities for their efforts. The deans, in turn, expressed their appreciation for the warm welcome and excellent organization provided by the Dean of the College of Information Technology and Computer Science at the University of Karbala, Assistant Professor Muwaffaq Kadhum Muhsin, and for their efforts in hosting the periodic meeting of the Deans' Committee.
