Discussion of a Master's Thesis in the College of Computer Science and Information Technology

Under the patronage of the Honorable President of the University of Basra, Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and under the supervision of the Honorable Mrs. Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, Dr. Salma Abdel-Baqi Mahmoud, the Master’s thesis presented by the student Hassan Hammoud Hilal from the Department of Computer Science and tagged “Safe and Energy-Saving Routing Protocol for Wireless Sensing Networks” Was discussed under the supervision of Dr. Imad Shaalan Al-Shawy, where it is known in the field of wireless sensing networks that multi-stage routing of WSN networks often becomes a target for malicious attacks.  An attacker might physically tamper with nodes, cause traffic to collide with a seemingly valid transmission, drop or misdirect messages in paths, or otherwise obfuscate the communication channel by creating radio interference. Therefore, the thesis aimed to present improvements that were applied to the RC4 security algorithm to secure the transmission packet in WSNs. On the other hand, for the power problem, the implementation of the Bacterial Forage Improvement Steering Protocol was introduced, and after extensive discussion by the committee in charge of discussing the thesis and the student, the committee decided to accept the thesis after making some Minor adjustments with a very good grade.
