On the blessing of God Almighty and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, Dr. Salma Abdel-Baqi Mahmoud, the first discussion of a master’s thesis took place after the creation of the postgraduate study (Master’s) in the college for the student Russell Youssef Ragheb for her thesis tagged “Building an Ontology of Holy Qur’an Stories Using Semantic Web Techniques At nine o’clock in the morning on Thursday, October 28, 2021, and in the graduate studies hall in the college.
The thesis submitted by the student under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Abdul-Hussein Mohsen Abdullah dealt with the study and construction of a comprehensive ontology of the stories of the Noble Qur’an using semantic web techniques. The work included three stages, the first is data analysis, classification and modeling using the ORM modeling language to process the data and make the most of it. The second stage is the actual ontology building stage using OWL language and MMDSL technology. Existing vocabulary was also reused and very good results were achieved when examining the ontology with SPARQL queries. While the third stage involved designing a website application that uses the proposed ontology for the purpose of providing the site with meaning and achieving the desired results.
As for the recommendations, the results showed that the use of semantic web technologies in all stages of work has proven its worth and efficiency in performing the required purpose.
After extensive discussion of the contents of the thesis, the committee decided to accept the thesis and recommended granting it a master's degree in computer science
